STAR GONDOLA x BATTERY

Join us as Jack Straw artist Mario Layne Fabrizio and his band The Star Gondola continue their monthly series of events at Jack Straw, coinciding with the production of their debut album through the Jack Straw Artist Support Program.

The Star Gondola is a cosmic party that takes you on an adventure through the stars. The members include Julian Weisman (bass, vocals), Carlos Snaider (guitars, vocals, synths) and Mario (drums, vocals, synths). Joining the bill is Battery, a solo drums and electronics project performed by LA-based drummer, composer, and creative coder Jacob Richards. Battery utilizes drum triggers and the ChucK programming language to create “algorithms” for performance that allow for improvisation within a set of rules fixed by the code. Drum hits control tempos and pitches of synthesizers, solos are played that adapt to other chords being played automatically, and thus new vehicles of composition and improvisation emerge.
