British pop rock band Tears for Fears has announced a new tour in North America, The Tipping Point Tour: Part II, which will take place in 2023. The tour will include two dates in Western Washington, with the first concert taking place on July 22nd at RV Inn Style Resorts Amphitheater in Ridgefield, WA, and the second on July 27th at Climate Pledge Arena. Cold War Kids will join the tour as a special guest.

The Tipping Point Tour: Part II is in support of Tears for Fears’ seventh studio album, The Tipping Point, which was released in February 2022. The album is a modern take on their classic sound and features 11 tracks, including “The Tipping Point,” which was released with a music video in January 2022.

The album debuted at No. 1 on Billboard’s Top Album Sales chart and is the band’s first studio album since Everybody Loves a Happy Ending, released almost 18 years prior. The Tipping Point has received critical acclaim and has been praised for its fresh sound while still maintaining the signature Tears for Fears style.

Tears for Fears’ name was inspired by primal therapy, developed by American psychologist Arthur Janov, which gained tremendous publicity after John Lennon became Janov’s patient in 1970. The duo of Roland Orzabal and Curt Smith were tackling big subjects from the beginning, and their name derived from Arthur Janov’s primal scream therapy.

Tears for Fears broke up in the early 90s following the release of their third album, 1989’s The Seeds of Love. However, Orzabal continued to perform under the Tears for Fears name, releasing the albums Elemental in 1993 and Raoul and the Kings of Spain in 1995. After not speaking to each other for nine years, Orzabal and Smith reunited in 2000. Tears for Fears released the still-underrated Everybody Loves a Happy Ending in 2004 and toured to acclaim.

The band has continued to tour, honing a live show that helps their songs evolve and expand in scope while staying fresh and modern. Although The Tipping Point was released over a year ago, it continues to receive critical acclaim and praise from fans, making their upcoming tour highly anticipated. With their unique blend of classic and modern sounds, Tears for Fears is sure to put on an unforgettable show.

Presale tickets for the Ridgefield and Seattle dates go on sale tomorrow on Ticketmaster, April 4th, with general ticket sales beginning on Friday. The Tipping Point Tour: Part II is not to be missed, and fans can expect to hear classic hits alongside tracks from the latest album.
