Chicago-based rock legends The Smashing Pumpkins have announced their 26-date North American tour, The World is a Vampire Tour. Produced by Live Nation, the tour will be making a stop at the White River Amphitheatre in Auburn, Washington on August 5th, with Stone Temple Pilots and Rival Sons as special guests. Some of the champions from the National Wrestling Alliance (NWA), who will be competing in most cities, are also expected to make appearances. For ticket information, visit Live Nation.

Lead vocalist Billy Corgan commented on the tour, stating, “I grew up in a world where I needed to know bands like Siouxsie and the Banshees and The Cure existed, it meant there was a place for people like me to hang out and belong. That’s what The World Is A Vampire is about. Bringing back that sense of community. If you don’t fit in, you belong here. It’s about having a shared experience and respecting others, but ultimately having fun. A true alternative festival, where all the self-proclaimed weirdos and outsiders of the world can get together and have a party.”

The Smashing Pumpkins first burst onto the music scene in 1988 with a unique sound, fusing rock, pop, shoe-gaze, metal, goth, psychedelia, and electronic music to create a blend of saccharine melodies, fuzzy distortion, bombastic orchestration, incendiary fretwork, eloquent songcraft, and unshakable hooks. Their sound was different, iconoclastic, and wholly new. Today, they have sold over 30 million albums worldwide and have collected two Grammy® Awards, two MTV VMAs, and an American Music Award.

New Music

Along with the tour announcement, the band also released their brand-new single “Spellbinding”, which received its radio debut on The Howard Stern Show. The single is the first from their highly anticipated third and final act of ATUM, which is set for release on May 5th. Act 3 will come with a special edition box set featuring all 33 album tracks plus 10 additional unreleased songs, and is currently available for pre-order.

ATUM is a 33-track album in 3 acts, written and produced by Corgan over the past 4 years. It is the sequel to 1995’s Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness and 2000’s Machina/Machine of God. 22 tracks have been released to date, with Beguiled continuing to climb at both Active Rock (peaked at #6) and Alternative Radio Charts (#12).

In addition to touring, the band is currently working on new music.

Corgan’s popular podcast series, Thirty-Three with William Patrick Corgan, continues to entertain dedicated Pumpkins fans all over the world, offering listeners the chance to hear never-before-released ATUM tracks, as well as diving into various aspects of the band’s illustrious history. Stone Temple Pilots

Stone Temple Pilots (STP) was formed in 1989 in San Diego, California. The band’s original lineup consisted of Scott Weiland on vocals, brothers Dean DeLeo on guitar and Robert DeLeo on bass, and Eric Kretz on drums. STP’s sound is often characterized as alternative rock, grunge, and hard rock. They rose to fame in the early 1990s with their debut album Core, which included hits such as “Plush” and “Creep.” The band’s unique sound and captivating live performances quickly earned them a dedicated following.

However, STP’s history has been marked by turmoil and tragedy. Scott Weiland, the band’s original lead singer, struggled with drug addiction and legal issues throughout his career. He was fired from the band in 2013, and later formed a new band called The Wildabouts. Weiland passed away on December 3, 2015, from an accidental overdose of drugs and alcohol while on tour with The Wildabouts.

Stone Temple Pilots, meanwhile, had recruited Chester Bennington of Linkin Park as their new lead singer. However, after just two years, Bennington left the band to focus on Linkin Park. In 2017, Stone Temple Pilots announced that Jeff Gutt, a former contestant on the reality TV show “The X Factor,” would become their new lead singer.

Despite the challenges they have faced, Stone Temple Pilots remains a beloved band with a loyal fanbase. Their music continues to influence rock musicians and fans around the world. With new lead singer Jeff Gutt and their latest album Perdida, released in 2020, the band is moving forward and continuing to create new music.

Rival Sons

Rival Sons is a rock ‘n’ roll band that values authenticity and simplicity in their music. They’ve been acclaimed for their previous works such as Pressure & Time, Head Down, Great Western Valkyrie, Hollow Bones, and Feral Roots. Their album Feral Roots received a pair of Grammy® Award nominations for “Best Rock Album” and “Best Rock Performance” for the single “Too Bad.” Their music has reached a broader audience, and the single “Do Your Worst” has been their most significant hit to date, garnering over 60 million streams. The band has shared stages with several renowned artists such as Black Sabbath, The Rolling Stones, AC/DC, Guns N’ Roses, and Lenny Kravitz. They launched their label Sacred Tongue Recordings, which is distributed by Thirty Tigers in 2021, and celebrated the tenth anniversary of their album Pressure & Time by performing the album in its entirety on tour. Rival Sons is set to release their seventh full-length album, Darkfighter, which includes the single “Nobody Wants to Die.”
