Seattle Theatre Group and Adam Zacks have announced the lineup for the THING Festival, a three-day music and arts festival taking place at historic Fort Worden in Port Townsend, WA from August 25-27, 2023. The festival promises a diverse lineup of performers, including a mix of music, comedy, visual arts, speakers, and highlights from Seattle Theatre Group’s signature education and community programs.

Fort Worden, a former military base encompassing 434 acres with 12 miles of forested hiking trails and 2 miles of walkable saltwater beaches, offers a magnificent setting for the festival. The event features four stages, including two outdoor stages, the McCurdy Pavilion, a former balloon hangar that has been converted into a theater, and the Wheeler Theatre, an intimate art deco venue.

The festival’s lineup includes a distinctive mix of artists, with an emphasis on fresh discoveries and a vision to create an environment where all are welcomed and represented. Some of the notable performers include Australian singer-songwriter Tash Sultana, Seattle’s own indie folk band Fleet Foxes, electronic pop duo Sylvan Esso, dream pop band Cigarettes After Sex, hip-hop trio Digable Planets, bassist extraordinaire Thundercat, and Latin indie alternative/experimental band Y La Bamba.

Also on the bill are acts such as Hatchie, Geese, High Pulp, LauFey, and MJ Lenderman, as well as comedians like Kate Berlant, Jacqueline Novak, and Sarah Sherman of Saturday Night Live fame. The festival also includes a variety of speakers, visual arts, and community programs, such as Labyrinths with Amanda Knox and Christopher Robinson, Omnibus with Ken Jennings and John Roderick, and Weirder Together Podcast with Ione Skye and Ben Lee.

Tickets go on sale this Friday, March 17th. The THING Festival promises to be a unique and exciting event, celebrating music, arts, and community in the beautiful Pacific Northwest. For more information and to purchase tickets, visit the event website at https://thingnw.org/.
