U2 has revealed its latest project in a Super Bowl commercial, titled U2:UV Achtung Baby Live At The Sphere, which will be launched at MSG Sphere at The Venetian in Las Vegas this fall. This marks the band’s first live outing in four years, and fans can register on the band’s website for more information about show dates and ticket sales.

The Sphere is a state-of-the-art venue that will redefine entertainment, with its 16K screen that wraps around and behind the audience, pitch-perfect audio to every seat, and 4D technologies that allow fans to feel the wind, heat, and rumble of thunder. The U2 UV Achtung Baby Live At The Sphere opening series of shows will be the first to use this exclusive technology, providing fans with a unique and completely new experience.

U2 has always been recognized as one of the best live acts globally, and the band has consistently pushed the boundaries of live performance. The band has been acclaimed for its ground-breaking stage shows that incorporate the latest technology and innovation, including the ZOO TV Tour, which broke the mold in 1991.

The band has announced that drummer Larry Mullen Jr. will undergo surgery in 2023, but he will be temporarily replaced by drummer Bram van den Berg for the Las Vegas shows. U2’s Bono, The Edge, and Adam Clayton have said that it will take everything they have to perform without Mullen Jr. but are excited to welcome van den Berg to the stage.

The Sphere is more than just a venue; it’s also a gallery, and U2’s music will be displayed on its walls. Madison Square Garden Entertainment Corp. Executive Chairman and CEO James L. Dolan said, “MSG Sphere’s advanced technology allows a legendary band like U2 to bring its music to life in entirely new ways. The Sphere is a new medium that will redefine entertainment.”

The Edge believes that the beauty of the Sphere is not only in the ground-breaking technology that makes it so unique but also in the possibilities it offers for immersive experiences in real and imaginary landscapes. He added that the Sphere is a canvas of an unparalleled scale and image resolution and a once-in-a-generation opportunity.

U2’s new album, Songs of Surrender, is an exceptional collection of 40 U2 classics from their extensive discography, skillfully reimagined for 2023 through an intensive two-year recording process. Fans can expect the album to drop on Friday, March 17th. In the meantime, the band has gifted us with a sneak peek of their first single, “One,” which made its world debut during the NFL’s Walter Payton Man of the Year Super Bowl feature.

U2’s announcement of the Sphere shows and new album is a much-awaited event, as the band has not performed live since December 2019. The band has stated that it is excited to get back on stage and see its fans’ faces again, adding that its audience was always the fifth member of the band.

U2’s new project promises to be a unique and unforgettable experience for fans, who have come to expect nothing less from the band that has consistently pushed the boundaries of live performance and innovation.
